Program Description

A disaster relief material storage room was inaugurated at the Indian Red Cross Society building in Hardoi by Amar Nath Mishra, Vice President, and Ramanand Katiyar, General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh State Branch. The event witnessed the presence of managing committee members, life members, and volunteers. During the ceremony, certificates were distributed to volunteers, followed by an address by General Secretary Katiyar, who emphasized that the Red Cross is an international humanitarian organization, often mistaken as a government body, and urged members to actively serve those in need. He spoke about the importance of volunteers, funding, office infrastructure, and programs, noting that in today’s society, new types of crises require proactive Red Cross engagement. He encouraged raising awareness among children about the harms of mobile usage and junk food, conducting dental and eye check-ups in schools, adopting TB patients in coordination with doctors, and maintaining blood donor lists. Plans were shared to establish blood banks in every district, introduce mandatory first aid training in schools, hotels, and community halls, and display nameplates with contact information at volunteers' homes. He also stressed enrolling hospitals and chemists as institutional members and promoting eye and body donation. Vice President Mishra highlighted the need for disaster training for all office bearers and volunteers, and demonstrated CPR and accident response techniques. Later, relief materials such as tarpaulins, mosquito nets, buckets, and clothing were distributed in flood-affected areas like Chiranjoo Purwa, Ganni Purwa, and Katri Bichhuya in the Bilgram region. Several dignitaries and active members including Akhilesh Singh Sikarwar, Anil Srivastava, Sunil Singh Somvanshi, Mahesh Chandra, Dr. Kaleemullah Qureshi, and a large team of volunteers including Shraddha Singh, Pratiksha Singh, Rupesh Pal, and Aditya Mishra participated and contributed to the success of the event.
