Program Description
In the sequence of 'Ek Vriksha Maa Ke Naam' (One Tree in the Name of Mother), under the massive tree plantation programme being organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Gorakhpur, on Thursday at the District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre, Vice Chancellor of Deendayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, Prof Poonam Tandon, Vice chairman of Uttar Pradesh Red Cross, Akhilendra Shahi and Organisation Minister of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Ghanshyam Shahi encouraged the Red Cross volunteers by planting fruit trees. They also distributed hygiene kits to girls and differently-abled women. On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Poonam Tandon underlined the importance of the role of Red Cross in environmental protection and said that it is a matter of great pride to be associated with a prestigious social organisation. The programme was highlighted by Vice chairman of Red Cross State Branch, Akhilendra Shahi and Organisation Minister of ABVP, Ghanshyam Shahi, on the occasion.
