Program Description
On the occasion of World Pneumonia Day, a public awareness campaign was started by the members of Red Cross Society Shahjahanpur to prevent pneumonia. The awareness campaign was started by Chief Medical Officer Dr. RK Gautam by distributing masks to TB patients who came for treatment. This program was organized at the District Tuberculosis Hospital. On this occasion, Chief Medical Officer, District Tuberculosis Officer and Red Cross Secretary Dr. Vijay Johri explained in detail about pneumonia disease. Pneumonia is the largest infectious disease of adults and children in the world, which is responsible for the death of children under 5 years of age worldwide. This day focuses on creating and encouraging adequate opportunities for global action to fight deaths caused by pneumonia and other respiratory infections mainly in low and middle income countries. Pneumonia is an inflammatory respiratory disorder caused by bacteria, virus or fungal infection that damages the air sacs of the lungs, called alveoli. As a result, fluid or pus accumulates in the sacs, making it difficult to breathe. It is an infectious disease and can be fatal for a person with weak immunity, especially in children and the elderly.
The theme of World Pneumonia Day 2024 is Every Breath Counts, Stop Pneumonia in Its Path. The world highlights the importance of every breath and underlines the urgency of preventing pneumonia through early identification, treatment and prevention.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ansar Ali, Medical Officer Dr. Faisal, Ashish Srivastava District Coordinator, Alok Srivastava, District Health Education and Information Officer, Sajid Hussain, Nandlal Singh Nandu, Umar, Nandanpal Singh, Anuj Johri, Avnish Saxena, members of the District Managing Committee of Red Cross. In the end, Red Cross Society Secretary Dr. Vijay Johri expressed gratitude to everyone.
